Palomar Observatory
The trip to the Palomar Observatory was quite interesting. There was of course ups and downs to the trip, but overall the trip was fun. I did not expect the weather to be so hot up in the mountain. Although we had to stop about six or seven times to cool off the bus engine, we arrived safely at the observatory. Instead of just looking at the telescope through a window, my cluster had a great opportunity to go inside the same room the telescope was in. The room stayed at cool and constant temperature. It turns out that the weather can really affect how the telescope works. We walked on the side of the upper half of the observatory. Being so high up was a bit scary especially because the ground did not seem stable and I was on crutches. However, the view from up above was just beautiful. I took a really cool elevator back down to the first floor and was able to see the bottom of the telescope. On our way back from the trip we stopped once again in the bus because the breaks were overheated. Everyone was exhausted with such a long and hot day we had to experience. I am glad we all made it back safely to enjoy the rest of the day at COSMOS.
Late Blog
This is a blog written on July 17, 2008 about July 16, 2008. Yesterday was our field trip up to Mount Palomar Observatory. The observatory was fun and really interesting, but the trip up to the mountain was a drag. The bus had to stop numerous times to let the engine cool down. Then when we were going downhill, the breaks overheated, so that was another stop. The trip was really that bad.
fieldtrip, and salsa lessons!!
well yesterday we went to palomar observatory, and even though we had to stop almost every 10 minutes because there where problems with the bus, anyways we got there and it was so cool, we went into the museum and then we got a chance to see the telescope, it was amazing, so big!!!
we also went in like a kind of "cat walk" outside the observatory, and it was very high and almost everybody was scared including me :P, even though we had a little trouble on our way to the observatory i think it was worth it because i got to see and learn a lot :D
after we got back form the observatory we had dinner and then we moved on to the activities, i spent the whole time just dancing salsa
it was so fun, i liked it a lot and hopefully we get a chance to dance again tomorrow on the dance
;)

What's Up?
Well, I have to say I've enjoyed my time at cosmos so far. Our trip to the Palomar Observatory yesterday was pretty cool except for the long bus ride. The activities they have every night are pretty fun and there are tons of cool people to hang out with. I'm happy that we got to play basketball a couple times and hopefully they'll extend the boundaries a little bit more. Besides that, the guys in my suite are all pretty chill and we have some fun talks during floor time. Im looking forward to the movie this weekend and the rest of the program. Clustah 6 is the bombski
July 17
Yesterday my cluster took a field trip to Palomar Observatory. The bus ride up the mountains took nearly two hours because we had to stop countless times for the bus to cool down. However, once we arrived at the observatory, it was worth the long ride. The Palomar Observatory holds the Hale Telescope, once the world's biggest, and is privately owned by the California Institue of Technology. It was breathtaking to see all the taken pictures of outer space and to learn about how the Hale Telescope works. My project for class happens to be building a refracting and reflecting telescope.
The activities at night are fun as well. Yesterday, my friends and I played poker and ate salsa. I'm looking forward to learning more about telescopes and hanging out with my friends.
