Break
COSMOS as been very interesting. The activities are pretty fun here. We got to paint a flower pot which I cannot wait to see grow. Also, the food here at COSMOS is actually pretty good. Unfortunately, I keep on forgetting to grab an ice cream bar. Besides the food, the professors here are nice. We learn a lot everyday about waves and stars. Hopefully COSMOS will continue to be better. I appreciate all the help from the wonderful staff and students. =]
First Week at COSMOS
This is my first blog at COSMOS about my first week of COSMOS. The food is pretty good here and Cafe V is nice. Most of my classes are too far, but the classroom for my lectures from my professor is very nice and quite new. The chairs are the best, being extremely soft. The great thing is that the classroom is only about a five minute walk away from Cafe V, and a ten minute walk from my dorm. My roommate is a pretty good match. We don't seem to have many problems. The others in the suite is okay. My RA is really helpful and is really fun when we play games. The lectures aren't too bad. I would like the professors to explain a little bit better because he uses more advance math and science when lecturing. Thats all right now.
Hmm..
Well its only the second day and it already feels like forever,
we've walked soo much that my shoes are starting to tear,
The best part i think so far was presenting articles in front of the class,
i got meet Justin who is really random and funny in a good way
Im so sleepy!
Elysse made me stay up, yea she forced me so ive been trying not to doze off
but its ok
and tomorrow is her birthday and were gonna have huge cookies for dinner :D
Today's pretty random
so im sitting next to max and hes like looking at these weird pictures of cats,
apparantly hes very fond of cats
Brinn catches Elysse on her myspace, and now were all writing blogs
Oh yes and i got to take a picture with the giant teddy bear sculpture made out of rocks

FINE
well apparently, "blow a gasket" is a wierd phrase so thank you Max.
I'm gonna...flip an erik if 4 o clock doesnt come in like .0-4982342 seconds.

Release Therapy
Today I spent three hours in the UCSD library researching electromagnetic waves. No matter how interesting this may seem to you it gets kind of dry after a while. So to lighten the load of a three page paper on the glories of gamma rays and electrons particle-wave duality I looked at some pretty intersting LOL cats, shar pei puppies, youtube videos and facebook. Soon the haze in my mind clear after a couple good laughs from kittens with interesting quotes like "U don't like breakfast in bed? Fine. Give ded skwirrel back, then, plz." I thought that was kinda cute. My cat used to do that when we went out to my country house in Long Island (if any of you West Coasters know what that is... YAYYYY NYC! =) ....) Sooo yeah. I hope tonight has a fun program like painting pots with patrick star and spongebob on them to help relieve the stress.
i think today was a good day i really liked breakfast and lunch was even better, even though i go to bed at exactly 11, i have trouble waking up the next day!! :p
Today after breakfast we went to a discovery lecture in this amazing room, it looked like a mini movie theater it was cool. There we had a guest speaker named Jeanne Ferrante, she was an associate dean here at ucsd. She gave us a presentation about high performance computing, and the topic title was "Think Parallel", she explained us how we could do different tasks at the same time and also she told us about how there is arising this problem of multichord computers, and how it is causing a great controversy, in the computer science field. I thought this lecture was pretty interesting, because I had no idea about all that is happening with computers nowadays. After the lecture we went to a classroom with one of our teachers. There we did like a small presentation, depending on the topic we picked. My team picked the one about solar power. After our presentations we went to lunch, and then we went to the library. I was so impressed with the structure of the building, it was really cool. There we had to do some research on the internet about another project we are doing, my team's topic is electromagnetic radiation. We looked for it on the internet and gathered information. Overall I think it was a good day, and I am very happy that every day I'm learning something new and making new friends!! :)

oookay so
So I've been sitting in this underground computer lab for 3 hours and I think I might blow a gasket. I'm pretty sure thats a real word. So yeah, I feel like today has been one long...walk. Its like a day at Disneyland minus all the rides and people dressed as characters. And its funny because we keep walking to ALL THE SAME PLACES BACK AND FORTH. Theres either needs to be some major VAN-age or BUS-age going on or we all need bikes. there was a sweet low rider outside one of the bijillion buildings.
So yeah,
I painted a pot last night.
That's all you really need to know.

7/8...?
The first full day in COSMOS was really fun!
We did a lot of new things, and I learned how to play mafia game. It is FUN but gives me a headache.
Second day is ok too. I will be used to this program soon...
Anyway, we are at the library right now to write a paper about stars and waves.
Time goes too slow in library. Come 4 o clock!

Today
Today was a fine day. Breakfast was the same as yesterday. We went to the Discovery lecture, which I really enjoyed because it was a break from the usual lectures. It help me understand more about the computer world. Later we had to teach the rest of our class about the universe and black holes. It was really difficult to explain such a complex topic. Then we went to the computer lab to write essays about the HR Diagram which illustrates the life of a star. I enjoyed the after class activities yesterday. The soccer was fun and I hope to play basketball today.
****JULY OCHO****
Today i woke up really tired. I think its because i stayed up till about twelve. After my shower i headed to breakfast. The breakfast was good. It was a simple sausage egg and hash browns. The lecture was really and the activity they had for some of the students made it more interesting. After the lecture we headed to a lab and we were assigned to read an article and give a speech to the class about it. It was hard to give a speech on it because there were so many contradictions to our subject which was how to blow up a super nova. Everyone elses speeches were better. For the group essay we were assigned photon. It was not that hard to come up with the essay and the essay was pretty much finished in about one hour tops.
It was much easier to sleep the second night compared to the first, but at the same time, it was harder to wake up. I woke up to my extremely energetic roommate getting ready to go on the morning run, while I still had my head in my pillow. But thanks to my superpowers, I got ready fast and teleported to Cafe Ventana for a quick breakfast. The menu was the same, and despite it only being two days, I found myself hoping that we get something new by the end of the week. I wasn't feeling very hungry, so I just grabbed a plate of eggs and sausages.
Instead of the usual lectures, all the clusters got together and went to a Discovery Lecture! I was impressed overall, and it brought me to realize some of the problems in the computer world today. The speaker had a clear, ringing voice. After that, we formed back into our clusters and read articles that I actually found interesting! Mine was on rogue waves, which are gigantic 85ft tall waves that randomly come out of nowhere and blow everything up. Each group within the cluster had to present a separate article, each on separate scientific phenomena. Time flew by, before I found myself dragging myself back to Cafe Ventana for lunch. The route to the study places and computer labs back to our dormitories and food places is the longest, most tiresome, sweat inducing, everythingasiofhqwoinboinwqoirhqwoithnkansfmnaflwhoqfihfalksnfakslfn road in the world. After what seemed like an eternity walking back, I finally climbed up the steps and into Cafe Ventana. The only thing worth mentioning about lunch is how I was scolded for drinking Mountain Dew by all my "eating mates", because it had an inordinate amount of caffeine, sugar, and Yellow 5 (which is said to have strange effects). I had to promise not to drink it.
Now I'm in this huge library of UCSD (after walking and sweating once again), and after writing a group essay on photons, I guess I'm writing on my blog.
THE END.
